Heart's Prayer

by Emma   Sep 26, 2008

I pray, God, you will be kind to me,
And not let me sink into misery.
I pray you will regather my heart
Into its rightful shape,
For broken strings and old, old keys
Do not a melody make.
Keep my eyes, my ears, my nose
Alert to all that might cause woes.
Let me live once more and leave
All dreams of ardour and of men.
Keep me hard. Keep me cruel.
Don't let me love again.
