Nothing Special

by Edward Elric   Sep 27, 2008

There was nothing special about her
Not the color of her eyes
Not the smell of her hair
Not even the way she cries

Nothing special about the way she talks
Nothing special about how she walks
She did nothing special to pass the days
And everything is normal in the things she says

We did nothing special when we went out
She gave me nothing special or rare
Everything we did was done before
We were the least unusual pair

There was nothing special about her at all
Just her soul
It doesn't matter what I was told
She was the most special girl in the world

It is not easy to find the special part of a girl out of her ordinary self. It's even harder to be attracted by the sole alone, and not by something special and stronger.
    Some technical comments:
The repetance of nothing special emphasizes the idea that there really is nothing secial about her, not even in little details like crying or the smell of her hair.
The rhymes weren't forced at all, and the flow therefore, kept on firm throughout the whole piece.
    About the content:
You made it look like she is a boring ordinary girl, when even the dates you had were boring... But than you discovere the true special thing that is hidded beneath the normality - Her soul.

The core of this poem is something many people should understand. The looks are not the most important thing, but the personality.

Couldn't have written it in a better way - 5/5
