The Ecstasy of Dying

by StandStill   Sep 29, 2008

Moons of ecstasy revolving,
Fading in and out of black;
Blank stares laced with cobwebs;
Broken promises twisting back.

Fragile ringing shatters stillness,
cobwebs slip and fall.
Little girls chase down the cheshire cats,
listening to their laughing calls.

Sing a sweeter melody,
lullabies of sleep.
Welcome to your nightmares,
close your eyes and leap.

Leap into the cobweb,
bead it with your blood.
Close your eyes and count to ten,
you thought you understood.

Darling, didn't you once tell me,
tell me you could fly?
I'm sure your wings ne'er looked sweeter
than to the spider's eye.

Ecstasy of dying,
wild heartbeat, cheshire grin.
Say goodbye to broken moonlight,
sweet dreams in spider sin.
