Dignity or Foolish Pride

by Bill Turner   Oct 21, 2008

Stubborn to some is principled to me
Not compromising my integrity though it causes harm
Self destructive it is not
As honor is a noble and just cause

These are the things you used to love about me
You will always be my Memphis Soul Song

Right is right and shall always be that way
I have bent refusing to break
Played the game, even when they changed the rules
Now it is time for me to stand

These are the things you used to love about me
You will always be my Memphis Soul Song

So worry not about my health
It is better to suffer in dignity than bend to another's will
I will heal thy self, as they say
Keeping my pride in tact and my dignity whole
