The Half Empty Optimist

by StandStill   Oct 26, 2008

The Weather Man's an optimist,
he hides the umbrella well,
the one that saves him from the days
where it rains for just a spell.

Way to give the world outside
a sunny smile and a sunny view..
too bad the water glass's half drank
and there's no liquid left for you.

It's sunny out today,
but I wish that it would rain
and make this landscape beautiful,
instead of all the same.

Clouds stream in like oceans,
rivers all adjoined.
Perky terms and sweet little words,
how to get your phrases coined.

A poem's just a song
without a mindless tune,
the kind of thing you yell across
your bedroom to the moon.

Complete these little thoughts
the ones that mean nothing in your mind
while you stare out at your bedroom clock
and trace the grooves of time.

The Weather Man reports today
that there shan't be a cloud in the sky.
The Weather Man's a cheery soul
in a world of optimistic lies.
