I Could have Been

by Lyssi Lori   Nov 3, 2008

I could have been a poet, my words had a nice flow,
But my poems denigrated a long time ago.
I could have been an artist, my pictures would have been famous some day,
But my masterpieces were used as scraps that you just threw away.
I could have been a singer, my magical tune left others in tears,
But my voice simply cracked after being ignored for so many years.
I could have been a genius, a brain surgeon, the next Einstein too!
But you said it was a waste and I believed those words were true.
My blessings were sins in your eyes, nothing I did was right,
I may never succeed, but I'll put up the fight.
