Wings and things

Wings and Things

There once was told a tale, centuries ago. Told by the village people known as common folk. It was said that if you listen close..By that I mean real close. The human senses could pick up the real meaning of words. Even down to the chirping of a bird. To this day I study and I cannot answer a single birds call. However, I'm intrigued by two breeds I've come to know. The Cardinal and the Hummingbird , Such fascinating creatures I've studied for so long. I cannot help myself from wondering what a bird would say could it actually talk...

" Oh, what a beautiful day to go and stretch my wings! Today I think I'll show off, to all the birds and things!" So off she went that speedy little hummingbird, In search of pretty flowers or another bird as bold. Around that time the cardinal pecked his tree for worms. Although he didn't find ah one, He wasn't a bit concerned. That was until his tree was no longer still, shaken by a blur of wings, she sputtered and flapped dizzy daydreams. So the cardinal came down and had a look around. A dead hummingbird springing from shock it seemed, Bursting alive from the boldness his feathers did bring.

" This was not a dream why you flew straight to me! I went in search of pretty flowers, But your tree I did not see! " So there she was at the roots of a cardinals worm less tree trunk. She went searching for a bird so bold but she never knew she would have so much luck! The cardinal looked not sure what to say, but his big brown eyes delivered a face of dismay...

For he did not know to stay or go, whether he was happy or mad, To fast to slow. But then his brain it finally clicked. Little Hummingbird has speed, However a red feathered Cardinal ...

She can't resist.

Interesting piece a little wordy for me and word flow could have been better I think. But a nice piece in all.
