Faces of joy and adoring expressions

Faces of joy and adoring expressions [poem]

Tonight I'm in a lighted city,

all alone there's no one with me.

The people catch my eye,

swiftly they pass by.

Faces of joy and adoring expressions.

Couples coming and going,

it becomes my exact expectation.

Suddenly I am stunned

For this old woman has me won.

Nothing I had imagined,

she is nothing I ever fathomed.

without a glimur of hope,

her unwillingness tight as rope.

she is homeless,stubborn, and cold.

With a grumpy face held in it's mold.

I could look upon her with great pity.

Even give her a smile or say something witty.

However, I fear I am the same as her.

Just wasting away I don't know what for.

But I just don't care to waste my time.

I'll leave her on the street assured she'll be fine.

So I'm quickly swept away into the crowd.

pacing myself to the shuffle, this city's so loud.

The old womans frown , it wears on me.

So I look to the crowd and a grand city

But there it is and it's standing out.

I walk straight on through without a doubt.

my frown slowly turns to a sweetened smile.

A light like home saying rest awhile.

there's a park bench and a fountain.

filled with pennies and all around it.

I take a seat and look next to me

There he is...Finally.

He shakes my hand and introduces his self

At that moment I'm drawn to him

Because his eyes had a way to pull you in.

Then I'm ashamed at my predictable behavior

I become a face of joy.

And my adoration is shameful
