Cloudburst

by Melissa   Dec 11, 2008

It's raining here,
I wonder if it's drizzling
where you are

or perhaps your heart
is more gelid
than sodden,
like mine

where the gray skies
flow
in a perpetual draft
overhead,
the droplets plummet violently
like pebbles
and other abiding things

my flesh stings
as though a thousand bees
gave their life
just to pierce me

does your skin burn, too?

or is it I alone
who loves
with no umbrella
