Best Friends Diary

by BornAgainWriter   Dec 27, 2008

Scribbles and scrabbles on the first three pages,
Two birds covering up on single page in her diary,
Blue lines reaching from the bottom to the top,
Expecting the diary to be similar to her - empty.

Sitting on the edge of her bed high off the floor,
My heart racing, and my legs are pleasantly crossed,
Licking my index finger to turn the frigid pages,
Which love letter should I read? I feel really lost.

Going with my instincts I start at the very beginning,
A love letter and a love poem combined into one,
With sixteen stanzas and hearts doodled an outline,
She wrote it out on paper because no one listened.

"Dear Lover that I once loved with all my heart,
I knew I loved you from the end back to the start,
We were an unusual couple with confusing creativity,
But you left me stranded like a hit- Double whammy."

Seems to me like this precious young girl is broken,
Possibly needing some duct tape to hold her together,
I close my eyes and exhale to turn to the next page,
If only her mind of blurry emotions were clearer.

I see the next title in big bold caligraphy letters,
Two hearts with faces and little hands to hold,
"Who Is That Girl I See Staring Back At Me?"
I know this poem is about being lost an to unfold.

Loud noises coming directly from the hall outside the door,
I know I did it this time- again betraying another friend,
When will I ever learn? That life isn't always about me,
Guilt will take over me until the stars fall in the end.

To be continued
