Protecting Me From the Rain.

Dark clouds hover overhead eliminating the sunlight
rumbles of thunder startle me as wait for you to arrive;
within seconds rain streams down in sheets drenching
my clothes as they become suctioned to my body
leaving me shivering and desperate for warmth.

A familiar face walks across the pavement of stone
across the street holding an umbrella above his head,
glancing in all directions, frantically searching.
Instantly, happiness rushes over me as I realize
that it's my love who I have been waiting for all along.

Your gorgeous eyes finally find mine in the distance,
as a smile so impossible to fight creeps across my face.
Screaming on the top of your lungs "I love you" slips
from your very lips as you pursue to cross the street
to meet me standing there shivering in the frigid rain.

Our bodies touch as you securely wrap your arms around my waist,
igniting warmth and a sense of comfort as you hold me close.
You hold your umbrella to the blue sky as the sun smiles,
peeking out from once murky clouds and providing us light,
as you direct us through the sunlit streets of an empty town.
