Waiting in the rain

by Tricia   Jan 4, 2009

The echoing sound of my heart pattering gets louder
each beat sends a shiver down my pale spine
my hair springs up like its suddenly surpised
each inch of my skin becomes cold to the touch

as i stand waiting in the rain
waiting for the perfect time
to leave
to hide away

my lips shake as the colour fades from this face
the droplets form a pattern as it falls
running to reach the bottom
to be absorbed by the unforgiving earth

I close my tired eyes
as my head rewinds itself
I let it play the sweet but dusty memories
allowing my lips to hold a smile
but only for a little while

my eyes awaken to the hostile rain
my damp clothes weighting me down
My feet stinking into the mud

I wait in the rain
I wait for the perfect timing
to leave
to hide away

To finally exist again in your warm heart.
