For Him

* Dedicated to a great friend of mine. There will always be a lot of things that I may never understand, but I will never leave. It is up to him how far he will drift away.

His eyes match the color of the sky,
And I swear his smile is as bright as the stars,
But slowly my memory is fading away.
He is breaking the only promise he ever made.

A letter he wrote to me as a gift,
Attempting to undo all the wrongs he had done,
But did he not know I had forgiven him all along?
I loved him thus he could do no wrong.

Still he persisted on with the words he wrote,
Stating forever he would care and be there,
But as I do my part of this pact we had made,
He fails to prove his words to be true.

Though he says this is who he shall be and was,
I cannot think for a second I loved such a person,
But maybe my ideals are set to high.
His perception of a friend is different from mine.

I will keep my promise through and through,
Never leaving until he asks me too.
Because forever my heart will carry him along,
For him that is what I can always do.
