Song of Sorrow

by Grace   Jan 12, 2009

It is funny how I never noticed the color of your eyes,
But now as they are about to be filled with glistening tears,
I see they match color as the person from which came my fears.
Please stay strong, I want to be the only one that cries.

No one really knows the pain that lies inside my heart.
Broken and torn, it barely beats within my chest,
Though still I am trying my honest best,
There is a tiny piece of him from which I cannot part.

You are always pleading and asking me to forget my past,
That is why to your knees did you retire,
Claiming your heart and soul were on fire,
My pain you could no longer bare to see last.

The cuts upon my wrist are wrapped around your mind.
Know you see my deepest secret as you slowly touch them,
Hands shaking and eyes glistening like a gem,
I am much to terrified to pull away leaving you declined.

Your voice quivers as you ask me if they are because of him.
All I can do is nod in fear of screaming at the burn your fingertips bring,
Feeling my heart come alive more with each tear sting.
Now each of our sobs begin to sing the most dreaded hymn.

The song of sorrow rings through out the empty snow filled streets.
And time stands still as you hold me now in your arms,
Wanting to end the pain that brings me to the horrid harms,
Staying to be the one who can my fears can never defeat.
