Our Music

by ihrtschlepper   Jan 24, 2009

I'm not sure why it is
that I still love you.
maybe there's something
in your deep brown eyes
That seem to call to me
Whenever you chance a glance.

Whenever our eyes meet,
Memories crash down upon me,
crushing me under their intensity,
and i wonder if you still think
About what we were and why we're not
And get an ache in your chest for it.

I remember each sweet kiss,
Each safe warm hug we shared.
I knew your heart and mine
Danced to the same tune.
Until that one day
That music came to a grand finale.

Do you ever hear that music anymore?
Do you find yourself humming the beat
And then wondering why it stopped before it grew?
It didn't have to stop
It can continue,
Just say the word-- I'm here.

Maybe one day we'll find each other,
and dance together in teh moonlit night,
our fingers entwined
Staring into each others eyes
As it should have been
With our music grounding us to earth.

But for now
I have to spread my m=wings alone
And i will fly high into the sky
leaving behind the empty music
that speak of the hurting past
and finally becoming free.
