My Childhood Wishes

by xToBeWithYoux   Jan 31, 2009

If I were a sound, I would be the rustling of trees in the wind,
because I am quiet and peaceful.

If I were a colour I would be bright and bold, but relaxing too.

If I were a mood I would be content,
because it makes people smile.

If I were a liquid I would be water,
because it's plain and simple.

If I were a landscape I would be rolling hills,
covered in forest,
spanning for miles under a crystal blue sky,
like the Black Forest in Germany,
because it is calm.

If I were a smell I would be an expensive
yet delicate
perfume, like a frail rose.

If I were a taste I would be mum's cooking.

If I were a country I would be Britain,
because it is so fascinating.
British and proud.

If I were a piece of music I would be a quiet little tune,
played on a piano:
a lullaby.

If I were a lesson I would be English,
where poems are born.

If I were an animal I would be a bumble bee,
because I could buzz away with
not a care in the world.

If I were a movement I would be the ability to fly,
soar across rooftops and countryside
into the sunset,
because I used to dream about it.

If I were a grown up I would be a poet
so I could write proper poems,
not long lists.

But I'm not.

I'm me.

And there's nothing that anyone can do about it!

Excellent poem! This was a great and refreshing write to read. I loved how you listed things like if you were a country and what you would be. I really liked that, creative and orginal and it was fun to read what you thought. Great ending, that made me burst into a smile! 5/5 from me, of course, take care!
    Keep writing, always and forever...
