Grampa

by gasping for air   Feb 5, 2009

I still can't believe you're gone,
You were so full of life,
For so long,
Had a smile for me when I saw you,
Got the better of me when I stopped by.
I never really stopped to think,
You wouldn't always be around.

I miss you,
I think of you often,
And wish you were still here.
I have to keep reminding myself,
You're in a better place now,
But it will never take away,
The pain of never seeing your face again.

If you're watching from heaven,
I hope you're proud of me.
I'm not perfect,
And I've done plenty wrong,
But I've done my best.
You've been gone for over a year,
You've missed holding my littlest daughter,
And a few other great-grand babies.

Grammy misses you terribly,
You were her whole life for so long,
And I know you're watching her,
But I will do my best to,
Help you watch over her.

Everyone misses you, Grampa,
You're always in our hearts,
But someday we will see you again.....

I read this..and tears started streaming down my face.
I can relate to where you're coming from. My grandpa just passed away last month.
    I'm sorry for your loss.
    Good poetry.
