Hold on tight
Hide under your blanket
The monsters won't come
The monsters can't find you

Hold on tight
They tell you in your dream
They don't want you falling out
Asleep, you can't scream

Fall asleep paranoid
Of those things creeping in the dark
Face them inside your head
The monsters that eat your heart

Fight as much as you want
Natural instincts win out
Wake up from silent screams
Can't control the nightmares inside

Know you're asleep
Doesn't help you control
Fighting to wake up
Wake up, your throat is sore

It's going to be a bumpy ride
You have no choice but to take
Wake up screaming, crying
Consciousness, the subconscious will brake

Nightmares are nightmares,
Fearing the thoughts that fuel dream action
Subconscious in control
The torture goes in its desired direction

Hold on tight, they tell you
It's going to be a bumpy ride,
Awake or asleep it doesn't matter
From your own mind, there's nowhere to hide

It's a lie when they tell you:

Hold on tight
Hide under your blanket
The monsters won't come
The monsters can't find you
