They Still Talk About Hope (Contest)

by Spoken Silence   Mar 14, 2009

You see them running around,
Playing with toys having fun.
Take a look closer,
Thats not a toy.

Remains of a war that once was,
Bodies scattered,
Bombs still unblown.
Does this seem safe to you?

House broken,
Dreams shattered,
Loved ones dead.
And they still talk about hope.

Hope for another day,
A day that should never come.
For every day is the same,
But that glimmer in their eyes still stands.

Hope shall always remain when all is left dead...

Sometimes hope is all we have left..hope for a bettter tomorrow, hope against our better judgement..
I believe that once we let go of that emotion, we are dead already...the body may live on, but the soul is gone.

    Good job on this!

    "You see them running around,

A captivating opening stanza, that really drew me into the meaning and setting of the poem. Just one thing, "Thats" should be "That's".

"Remains of a war that once was,
    Bodies scattered,
    Bombs still unblown.
Does this seem safe to you?"

What I loved about this stanza was the imagery and descriptions, just enough to give the reader a clear view. Nice question tagged on at the end, thought provoking words.

    "House broken,
    Dreams shattered,
    Loved ones dead.
And they still talk about hope."

Your words are so simple yet so meaningful, well-expressed thoughts and emotions here.

    "Hope for another day,
A day that should never come.
For every day is the same,
But that glimmer in their eyes still stands.

Hope shall always remain when all is left dead..."

Great ending, you clearly got your point across. 5/5 from me, take care and keep writing, always and forever...

    God Bless!
