Linger (Labled for Eternity)

by Syrus   Mar 26, 2009

I can still feel your taste lingering
Both bitter and sweet,
I can still feel the answers lingering
Nearing the edge of my tongue,
Every letter that begins cascading off
Turns a ghostly pale,
They fall into vapor rain
Either too scared or too emotionless,
Their meaning has been lost...
It's because of you they cannot feel,
Holding this storm over me
It's because of you they are all silent,
Drowning out the world with your deception
It's because of you my heart knows nothing else,
That I can never see the light of another day,
I've become tired and weary,
My eyes folding shut,
This soul left haggard,
Tossed under the bridges of time,
Next to the flames of a once loved dream
Watching ashes slowly float away
There I see us standing frozen in time,
Theirs a label that you put on me
"Liar, Jealous, Cheater"
Tattooed across my heart,
You tell me that I'm past due
After months on end in this freezer
Slowly decaying away as things do
Burns leave their marks across me,
As time passes by
I'm left alone in this arctic vault
Inside these ice filled walls
Left numb to all the world
Yet still,
I feel you lingering on my skin
I can still feel the answers
Even buried deep inside this glacier,
But my light will never shine through
Only the silence can hear my cries,
This darkness has consumed too much,
This place will bury me alive
With only your image
Tormenting me till my last breath
As you start to fade out
Your voice gets louder
and I still linger...
