A Different Word

by KelleyJo   Mar 30, 2009

Harsh words and guns are all that she hears,
Growing up on these roads, she has everything to fear.
She's never heard "i love you, too"
She's never known the right thing to do.

Her eyes are covered with black eye liner,
Her wrists are cut, the scars above minor.
Her clothes are ripped and she has nothing to wear,
Her self-esteem torn, until it's all she can bare.

Not a day goes by where she doesn't cry,
Not a soul speaks the truth, she only hears lies.
She knows there is hope somewhere out there,
She knows there's a person who really does care.

She's waiting for you to take a step and walk,
She's waiting for you to open your mouth and talk.
But what she needs to hear doesn't cut like a knife,
And she's waiting for you to save her life.
