Our love torn apart
Just as Romeo and Juliet
Our family couldn't see
The love in our hearts

For they were blinded
By our status in life
I was a student barely
Surviving this harsh life

You had it all yet,
Yet you seek to escape that life

But to my surprise it was someone else
A girl but not you, she was your friend
She handed me a letter and left me be
An ominous feeling overwhelmed me

As I carefully opened the envelope
The daunting feeling I felt

And became a physical pain within my chest

You had died prior that night
Diagnosed with a life threatening illness

Sitting here alone, watching the fireworks

Watching the fireworks and finally
Being able to be together as one
But now you are in the sky up above
