Cancer won the war

by Nicole   Jul 8, 2009

For months you've been in pain
the cancer full of revenge...
second time its claimed your life...
for weeks i watched you deteriorate

today the unbearable occurred...
you passed away left us all alone
you were taken from us..
cancer took your life..
no early detection this time
here and gone 2 months after they found it

your respiration stats dropped and dropped...
your breathing rapid and shallow
you were stable when i went down to the cafe
then the nurse came told us to get upstairs you were deteriorating further...by the time we got there the doctors were all there
for minutes they kept us outside...then came the news...
your heart beat was faint but you were gone
you respiratory system had failed your body had just given up

your pain was gone
but so were you
my heart is broken
i lost my idol
the one i relied upon to help me through my life
at nearly 21 I'm not meant to be motherless
you were meant to be here...
i needed you so much...

but cancer decided to take you away from us
now i feel like a part of me is gone
something is missing never to be whole again
you were robbed of your life
at the days end
never to see your smile again.

today you died
cancer won the battle
it stole your life

I'm truly sorry about your loss. At least she now in a better place with no more pain in her body. Stay strong and always remember she's there with you.

Wow, I'm at a loss for words. I usually don't read poems that don't rhyme but this one caught my attention from the title. I'm so sorry for your loss. amazing job.
