Writer's Block

by Valerie   Jul 20, 2009

Paper blank, pen in hand
Desperately trying to understand
How do poets write with ease?
Their poems flowing like summer breeze.

Sit, stare, think some more.
Now I'm laying on the floor.
Tap, tap, tick, tock
Nothing worse than writer's block

Did greatest poets of all time
ever struggle with a rhyme?
How does one get unstuck?
Just inspiration or maybe luck?

Walk around, lay on the bed
Still no ideas in my head.
People please, help me out.
I don't know what to write about!

Shakespeare, Homer, Allan Poe
Few great poets that I know
To be like them one can strive
Their greatest poems still alive.

I think it's time for a break;
There's only so much my brain can take.
Hope is gone, confidence now lost
Trying to compete with Robert Frost.

*written out of boredom one night; completely explains how frustrated I can get when trying to rhyme =D
