Death, take me

by mckenzie   Aug 18, 2009

Hello death, here I am knocking at your door again
Will you ever come my way?
Black ranger, riding in the night
Spilling blood and destroying at will
Have you passed me over?

You are my friend
And I long to taste of you
You are my life
I want to breath you in

Tonight...

Hello grave, here I stand digging you deeper yet
I am here to stay
Fullness of life from which I came
My soul cries out
This is my return

You are my home
And I long to be with you
You are my rest
Forever will I find my peace with you

Tonight...

The way we want to live often matches the way we want death. There are reasons for living, and very few reasons for death. "A way of life," is what we strive for. A reason to die...is what a lot of us discover within ourselves. A great poem. Such talent. I hope I got the idea right. Thanks for the good read.

    You are my friend
And I long to taste of you

*I would change this to "I long to tatse you" That sounds better to me and doesn't seem so wordy.*

    You are my life
I want to breath you in

    *"breath" should be "breathe"*

    You are my home
And I long to be with you
    You are my rest
Forever will I find my peace with you

*I really liked this part. It's sad but written so softly. This wasn't my favorite from you, I feel your love poems are your best work but this was good. I like how you repeated "Tonight" that was very clever and shows me that you are determine to die at that point and time. Great work dear. Nik*

A quite dark poem, which not everyone might understand. The message that this piece is trying to convey is definitely familiar to me, I've been in that situation where i begged death to come.

But, in the end, this life is beautiful. And sometimes we have to hit rock bottom to really begin to notice that life is beautiful.
