Cry Me A Lullabye

by J King   Aug 26, 2009

All is still but me, the night is quiet
holding it's breath for the sun to rise
hours tick, tick, tick the silence away
Yawns are gone and stress fall behind

I wait and wait for the dreams to come
The sandman is late in his arrival
Time crawls and claws the floor to rest
But the night is still here with a smile

My heart quickens for no reason at all
I try to sleep to wake up somewhere
My eyes tease me with false attempts
My mind is restless, thinking it's unfair

Almost four and no luck still
Can nothing help me overcome this task?
How can I sleep when I'm not even tired
But to sleep, how I wish for so bad
