Untrue Butterfly

Untrue Butterfly

Oh pretty butterfly
Why are you so sad
You're beautiful and sweet
How can those things be bad

You were given wings
And yet them, you don't use
So how do you know
That love isn't meant for you

Your color shines bright
And your patterns are flattering
So how is it a beautiful thing
Can say her heart is shattering

Well Mr. Owl,
I'll tell you what I've done
I made another naive choice
Thought I could fly as far as they could run

I did spread my wings
And flew as far as I could see
Found another butterfly
Who saw me for me

Then I got tired of flying
Lost my focus and sight
Never told him I was leaving
I just flew back home that night

Even though it's too late
I can see I was wrong
I was afraid of being hurt
But it doesn't matter he is gone

So tell me wise Owl
Now what shall I do
I lost my compassion and honesty
I'm just the butterfly who's untrue
