Cruel Time

by NightFlyer   Sep 30, 2009

So here I am beside the lake
Where in past seasons I had run
And so much time, ill winds would take
For middle age had just begun.

A cold moon burns in Autumn sky
Its rays shining on swirling glass
I hear the ocean breeze's sigh
And feel the fleeting lifetimes pass.

Through youth's currents, I strongly rowed
My playful times of love and vice
Now nothing's left but evening's glow
In this my tropic paradise.

Bright tower lights shine from afar
And marble clouds drift from the sea
I sadly gaze upon my star
As cruel time claims her victory.

'Where in past seasons I had run'
^Run should be ran I believe

'A cold moon burns in Autumn sky
Its rays shining on swirling glass
I hear the ocean breeze's sigh
And feel the fleeting lifetimes pass.'
^Really awesome imagery & descriptions here.

This is so sad and full of deep emotion. I feel like you did really good here, not only with the emotion aspect but also the imagery and how it really deepened the mood as well.

That was deep ... a wonderful peom on life... while reading it flowed so easily... and I could imagine the waves and the autumn sky...

A cold moon burns in Autumn sky
Its rays shining on swirling glass
I hear the ocean breeze's sigh
And feel the fleeting lifetimes pass.

^^ loved the metaphors used to express the fleeting time... beautifully penned

Bright tower lights shine from afar
And marble clouds drift from the sea
I sadly gaze upon a star
As cruel time claims her victory.

^^Time is always victorius... it slips faster if we try to catch it... lovely lines

    wonderful read :)

A sense of loss either in nature or life. A decision the reader has to make from your words.

As I read this I felt like something that was
bountiful & magnificent is now gone..eroded
with age..a touching write. Take care.
