Of love and play and glee

by Mr Rhee   Nov 7, 2009

I think I hear whispers,
coming from somewhere near by.
Little voices coming from
little ghosts, dancing like a sigh.

I think I see nymphs,
moving in the mists around me.
Lithe, and shadowed,
barely a chance to see.

I think I feel goosebumps,
crawling across my skin.
Like spiders and bugs,
trying to dig their way in.

I think I want to cry,
like a babe, lost in the wood.
Lonely and a little scared,
heart beating harder than it should.

I think I hunger for a meal,
if not more than a piece of bread.
Layered with sweet butter,
or perhaps some honey instead.

I think I need some drink,
to wash away this thirst.
Like a cup of warm rum,
or perhaps some wine first.

I think I like my dreams,
of love and play and glee.
Laughing and smiling on and on,
brings a better day for me.

I think I must wake up,
and come back to true life now.
Like work, and hunger,
and trying to survive somehow.

I think I want to leave this place,
to find some where more fun.
Leaving is all I can do,
so it's time to break into a dead run.

I think I may never come back,
to this life of hunger and pains.
Longing for sweet dreams again,
and ,perhaps, my sanity remains.

This was such an amazing poem... The words you used created such vivid images in my mind and every stanza errupted throught with so many feelings.
I thoroughly enjoyed the way you started with "I think..." It had a great impact on the poem and as I continued to read it I could feel the emotions going through especially in the last stanza.
Amazing work! Keep it up!!! 5/5 from me.
