North Star

by Valiantpenguin   Nov 18, 2009

I've searched the sky a thousand times
Like I've searched through my heart
Searching for the right star
Like I searched for the right work of art

Many times I thought I found one
The brightest star, my North star
But too many times I found I was wrong
That my North star was burning, turning to char

Then I found you
You shot across my sky and into my heart
As bright as the moon on a clear summer night
I don't know how I never saw you on my chart

My life was filled with a longing
To be loved and accepted, be someones paramour
To have someone to hold me and love me
Someone I could simply adore

I never realized I was looking for you
Until I spilled soda on you that August day
Then your soft beautiful lips touched mine
I knew I could never get away

We spent nine wonderful months
Only in each others arms
Then the Marines had to claim you
I could no longer be dazzled by your charms

But the day I saw you again
With your oh so beautiful smile
All my doubts flew away
Though I could only hold you for a while

Please, I beg you, stay with me
I love you more than you could guess
If you should ask me to be your wife
The answer would definitely be yes
