The Altar and the Door

by Chelsey   Nov 20, 2009

Obsessive, controlling, abusive, he was
Scared, broken, the light in her heart was dim
It was love, he knew it, he wanted nothing more
It was stupid, she knew it, she couldn't stand him

He was everything her parents had planed for her
Rich, smart, gorgeous to the eye
She was trapped, stuck, her life in ruins
She wished they could see through his foolish lies

A wedding, in June, at the 5 star resort
Invitations were out, her dress was bought
She dreaded the day, wanted to cry
It was release, freedom, a peace of mind she sought

He couldn't tell how much strength he had
His obsession over her was pushing her away
He thought things were perfect, blinded to the wrong
Oh she didn't know how she was making it through the days

There he stood, the altar could feel his excitement
There she stood, behind the door she cried
She threw her flowers down ran out of the church
Her parents did horrible with their prince charming search

She hated him, left him standing there in shame
He loved her, was ready to give her his last name
The Altar left him with the worst memory he could ever have
The Door opened and she was on her way to a brighter path

I definately believe that money and style in the opposite sex isn't whats going to make you happy. Sometimes all you need is somebody who can make you laugh and smile. So many realize this when its to late, I'm glad she ran away :) Great job 5/5
