The Queen of Hysteria

by Poet on the Piano   Dec 22, 2009

I jump onto slippery platforms,
as the ocean bellows below;
the daring game no longer attracts
but turns into a wicked scheme
to mold all figures to stone.

I battle with my conscience
as the hourglass of life runs;
the menacing ice shatters,
leaving me alone among
the many glass statues.

I spring into the piercing liquid
as I think again of my choice;
the Arctic waters hold me
and squeeze until I combust
into absolute insanity.

Rays of fire tease me
as I leap towards their faces;
the underwater crystal creatures
pull out their laughing daggers
and aim for my soul.

I dive deeper into the waters
as chains of prisoners choke me;
the beat of my heart stops
and I no longer see the light
but only hear the song of death.

I fight but with no effect
as I am weak and decaying;
the captured demons break free
and enclose around my flesh
eating me completely alive.

My goal is now impossible
as is the chance of salvation;
the minutes slow to seconds
and I am suddenly reminded
of the chant of redemption.

I am doing your will Father
as evil clings to my thoughts;
Deliver me from danger
and use my mingled heart
as a temple for your Spirit.

I sing these restoring words
as a warm fire ignites inside;
the blackness brightens
and transforms into a rainbow
filled with promise and hope.

I dash out of Satan's eye
as the essence of bliss dances;
I am free from all paranoia
and I thank you Prince of Peace
for bringing me back to reality.

    'as the ocean below bellows;'
    ^I think it may sound better if you flip below & bellows -- reads better to me.

    'leaving me one among
    the many glass statues.'
    ^I think one would sound better as 'alone' -- this was awkwardly worded to me.

    'leaving me alone among
    the many glass statues.'

    To me this was a very intriguing piece, you have such an amazing imagination that no other poet can compare. Nearly perfect wording, each line so powerful. The ending is uplifting & makes the poem worth the read. Awesome job.
