That Night

by Stephanie Michelle   Feb 6, 2010

Darling, relax. The pain is surreal.
It'll rip you apart and teach you to feel.
Let the blade slide down and mark up your skin,
It'll make you feel better and rid you of sin.

Let your hate seep out, your anger will go.
I promise you'll like it, this isn't for show.
Just cover your arms and put on a smile,
You'll create a flawed world that'll help you a while.

Hush now, don't cry. Just bite back the hurt.
No need for those tears, they're wetting your shirt.
Let the blood leave your body and trail down your arms,
It'll wash out emotion and rid you of harm.

Press down a bit deeper, don't be a fool.
How could anyone fear this life taking tool?
Feel the cold steel as it does you no wrong.
The weight of your burdens won't last if you're gone.

Listen to voices, they're not in your head.
Everyone knows you're better off dead.
Just give up on life, this is your fate.
You're embraced in death's arms, why even wait?

Don't continue this journey, life isn't fair.
Raped, beaten and torn, you're going no where.
What's life really worth when no one can see,
A broken girl searching for a way to be freed.

You'll always be caged, he'll stay in your dreams.
His voice, it still taunts you. You'll never be free.
Give into temptation, just press the blade down.
Your life can be over, put away that faint frown.

This exit is daring, your ending is bold.
With this kind of death a story is told.
Who would of thought a girl with no name,
Would leave her world in a twisted small game.
~
Drugs, alcohol and fights did her no right,
And you ask why she bled on that fateful, lone night?
Nobody will remember this girl in a while,
The one who stopped fighting and left with a smile.
