The perks of being a wallflower

by Mello193   Feb 13, 2010

Adolecence
it its best
i strive to be different
than all the rest
i am not normal
nor try to be
i am who i am
no time for conformity
emotional at times
and i think too much
but i always will know
that i belong to this bunch
the sex
the drugs
the rock and roll
future good memories
for when i am old
be happy in photographs
as my parents were
the medications have taken
everything pure
i see time colapse
a lifetime in one hour
im thinking too much
its just the perks of being a wallflower

I think this is the second poem I've read of your where you call yourself a wallflower. I'm wondering if that's a slang term I need to look up to understand it better.

    I looked it up:)

The Perks of Being a Wallflower is an epistolary novel written by American novelist Stephen Chbosky. It was published on February 1, 1999 by MTV. The story is narrated by a teenager who goes by the alias of "Charlie"; he describes various scenes in his life by writing a series of letters to an anonymous person, whom he does not know personally.

interesting... this poem is based off a book I see

i think this part is brilliant!!!

before that i think you were trying too hard to rhyme.

This is a very good write, Your flow worked extremly well and it was just the way you worded your poem in general that made it a more enjoyable read =] I aso found the heading of your poem to be very fitting to the piece

Can totally relate to this, its a lot like my later teen years are turning out like, youve really summed up how it is to see lots, and have an overactive mind. nice job.
