Fork in the road

by Timothy   Feb 28, 2010

We were inseparable, two peas in a pod,
We shared life and liberty, and our mutual faith in God;
I loved you, like no other,
You were a wonderful wife, and someday would be a great mother.

But tragedy set in, fate made a twist,
The plans were changed, evaporating our bliss;
It's not easier walking alone with this load,
Because when the time came there was a fork in the road.

I don't blame you for heading your own way,
If you had a choice, perhaps you would have stayed?
I continued the path from which we started,
I can't keep looking back from where you departed.

I'm miles ahead from where we last spoke,
But yet my heavy load is how my heart is still broke;
If I increase my speed, while I come back around?
If I wish real hard, will that fork in the road be found?
