The Freshly Bitten

by Faithless Watermelon   Mar 11, 2010

The ice will burn before the pages turn,
Forgive yourself for the pain you've earned.
You won't cry until you see faces in the rain,
When your life is over and your joy lies slain.

You hide the danger in your smile,
Behind a stranger to your guile;
And I have to ask if you believe
In vampires and the lover's creed.

Your shoes are tied with a hangman's knot,
I wonder if the darkness ever had a shot;
You left the light but the black is nothing
Next to you and your heartbroken paradise.

I know you loved them, each and every one,
I think you killed them, each a world undone.
And I have to ask if you can truly see
Just what the hell you've done to me.

The mirror says my teeth have grown;
On these new wings my guilt has flown,
And I know it will never end;
A loss of life God did not intend.

Well I know we both love blood,
But it never had to flood;
Even though the sun now hates your face,
You can't forget the sweetly sordid taste.

    Dang! This poem is amazing!!! The emotion is strong, and so is the word choice. In fact this poem literally left me speechless at first. It is so creative and powerful, and definatly dark. The word choice is... is I don't know a suitable word for it... the flow is excellent, as is the length. I must say this piece feels like it is perfect. 5/5
