Days like these

by Chelsey   Mar 20, 2010

Under the covers, I can't move, you're holding me
Craving eggs, hashbrowns, a cup of folgers coffee
The alarm just went off, oh five more minutes please
You caress my cheek, my hair blows from the outsides breeze

But the babies up now, it's time for him to be fed
We're both exhausted, it feels like we just went to bed
And look at our little girl, just turned 3 last week
She's waiting by our doorway, "mommy I'm ready to eat"

You get ready for work, brush your teeth, hot shower
You hide them very good, always coming down the stairs with flowers
Look at our baby with the milk mustache around his lips
We laugh, you squeeze me, lay on my mouth a sweet kiss

You're out the door, working 9 to 5 all week long
I stay home watching Barney and singing nursery songs
And when you come home its relaxing time but things need done
The dryers broke, bills need paid, time to be spent with our daughter and son

8 o'clock comes, bath for babies, time for them to sleep
I wouldn't change a thing even though it feels like I'm in too deep
Finally its quiet time, some time left for you and I
Come to bed baby, and I'll sing you sweet lullabies

Under the covers, I can't move, you touch me oh so fine
I've waited all day for this, for you to be in these arms of mine
And we lay there in our peaceful home, holding on tight
I wanted to stay awake forever, don't tell me goodnight

Back to reality, we're still young, this is just a fantasy
Of what I want the future of you and I to be
I hang on to hope, hang in there with me please
Because one day I can't wait to live days like these
