What the night does bring

by SexyStar   Mar 25, 2010

The night
It brings more pain
Than the morning rain.
It brings your voice and your smile,
Your warmth, just lingering for awhile.
Before being swallowed up by the darkness,
The hurt that the night does possess.

Each time I close my eyes,
I see your tearful cries.
You calling out to me,
Oh, how I wish I could have set you free.

Each day I think of you,
Wishing it all wasn't true.
Hoping tomorrow will bring you back,
Putting your life back on track.

Reality hits me again and again,
The tears on my duvet, how they stain.
Your not here,
And your not coming back.

Remembering the memories makes me smile
But a tear slips over the curves of my mouth,
As I remember
Memories wont bring you back.

That last line really brings the poem home... you've succeeded in bringing tears to the corners of my eyes, darlin'... beautiful. Just beautiful.
