Secrets

by Karin Erlacher   May 17, 2010

He's covered in a blanket of lies
Never seeing what's really real
He's running around with closed eyes
Searching for layers he needs to peel

She tapes down the edges tight
Never can the truth be revealed
The secrets are just out of sight
She cares so little about how he feels

It's a wicked a game she loves to play
She's sure he'll never figure it out
He's smarter than he'll ever say
He hears her words and always doubts

She's leaving him and he doesn't know why
She says to her friends "don't tell"
One of her friends is quiet and shy
He knows she knows, mind as well

He asks if she's got a secret to keep
She says yes but nothing more
He knew it, he knew it! He starts to weep
He needs to think so he shuts the door

He knows but he fears it's the end
What is going to happen now?
He just really needs a friend
I'll be here as long as he'll allow
