Mother May I

by Synh   Jun 5, 2010

Mother, may I go out tonight?
Stay out until it is daylight
I'll be back when the sky is new
Maybe one day, maybe two

Mother, may I have the keys?
Walk the streets looking for weed
My high is low and needs a fix
My mind needs an uplift

Mother, may I have a twenty?
I need to get my new I.D.
The years on mine are so low
And time passes too slow

Mother, may I move out?
I want to know what he is about
Live in his deluxe apartment in the sky
We'll be living it big in no time

Mother, may I have a coat?
I left when he grabbed my throat
The streets here are wet and cold
I live here with no one to hold

Mother, may I ask a question?
I must admit I have a confession
Will you help me leave these streets I roam
And allow this grown child to come home?
