Nightmare

I had a nightmare
Not the usual kind where
A scary person is chasing you
But the kind that gives you goose bumps,
The kind that leaves you hanging.

I was frightened
Not for my life,
But for my heart.
For the only person I ever loved
Was cheating on me with another girl.

He was embracing her, kissing her
And treating her like his princess.
Where I stood from afar,
I felt like his love prisoner,
A woman in jail simply for loving him.

He told me that he loved me more than anything
And that he would do anything for me.
Then how could he do this to me?
Hurt me and break my heart as if
It is worthless and nothing to him.

The next day I opened my eyes
And finally realized
That it was not a nightmare.
And that's when it really hit me,
My nightmare had become reality.
