Sightless Eyes

by jen sheridan   Oct 12, 2010

With hollow hearts, sightless eyes, crushed souls, their dreams misplaced,
Vacant expressions, thoughtless minds, empty words, their bodies disgraced,
They wander aimlessly, meaningless interactions, empty conversations, ever sleepless,
Destined to suffer forever the consequences of their bitter weakness,
Without fear, lacking emotion, self absorbed, they cling to existence,
They seek out their twisted desires, blindly with an expert persistence,
Creatures of the night, silent and solitary in their desperation,
Narcissistic, manipulative, minds, oblivious to their own degradation,
They destroy all they touch, all they once loved, no care to what they lay waste,
They care for nothing and no one, only the satisfaction of that chemical taste,
Pathological liars, brilliant actors they'll rip out your soul for pleasure,
Emotional blackmail, a mere past time, reserved just for their leisure,
Deceptive, blatant imposters, a devious agenda in mind,
Inadequate, opportunistic, dangerous characteristics when combined,
Fading, falling, dying with excruciatingly slow motion,
Shaking, sweating as they down the last of their poisonous potion,
Choices made, minds set, they are creatures of their own creation,
Obsessive, centralized, singular they have but one true fixation,
A mere walking shadow, of the potential God bestowed upon humanity,
Chances past, opportunities lost, no return from the edge of this self inflicted insanity,
In their misery, bound together by desperation, and their silent inner cries,
All addicts have one common factor, those steely, unmistakable sightless eyes.....

Addiction is sad but a choice all the same...
