Yesterday

by Krista   Oct 31, 2010

Faded memories sleep in dusty frames,
lining a wall where the words meant everything.
A sunny day, bridal veil dancing in the breeze.
Rainy afternoons, boots jumping in puddles.
All these are just reminders of yesterday.

Now the frames are cracked, worn with age.
too many bad images litter the faux smiles,
too many insolent screams volleyed in this room.
Now the people in the photos are gone,
reminding me of the yesterday I long for.

I lay down, clutching these photos to my chest:
praying that maybe the emotions will rush back,
that the happiness of youth might return.
I close my eyes, shutting away the hot tears,
dreaming of the yesterday I once loved.

Sad indeed, yet beautiful. There is onething no matter how hard we tried that we cannot escape is our memories. There is a part of our life experiences that we keep dear to us. Most time as soon as we lay at wake , that memory return to the surface. Very well done, Kel.

This was a truly sad poem and I was taken in by it. I guess this could apply to a load of people who start forgetting what happen when they were younger and so all they end up having are pictures to remind them of what they once had. Anyway a sad piece with deep emotions of sadness and longing for the past.

"I lay down, clutching these photos to my chest:
praying that maybe the emotions will rush back,
that the happiness of youth might return.
I close my eyes, shutting away the hot tears,
dreaming of the yesterday I once loved."

That was my favorite stanza as it gave one long last cry for the memories that you want. Also the imagery you use in these poem was great as it painted a picture of its so the reader can see what's happening. All in all a great poem. Great job and keep writing.

    beautifully expressed.

Sad it is. Yesterdays are a place where we all visit at sometime in our lives and long for. You have given us a glimpse into that past and the longing felt for it. Well done.
