Goodbye Summer

by megann anne   Oct 31, 2010

The weather gets cold, all the little kids cry
Cuz the birds are all leaving, to the south they fly
The frost on the ground stops life in its track
You've gone like summer, but you're not coming back

The places we walked to, well those trees did die
And the songs that we sang, now they all make me cry
We danced with no music, your hands on my hips
You pulled me in close, built a fire on my lips

Now you're gone, oh now you're gone

Can't you tell that I'm struggling?
Like the last roadside flower of them all
And just like the season, I'm dying all over
Yeah, you left me alone in the fall

Everyone else sees the beauty of the leaves on fire
But they changed like you did, and that means the leaves are all liars
You told me you loved me that October night in your car
But then you broke my heart, now I don't even know who you are

Can't you tell that I'm struggling?
Like the last roadside flower of them all
And just like the season, I'm dying all over
Yeah, you left me alone in the fall

Oh time moves on and brings the green trees
But I'm stuck here forever, I died with the leaves

Can't you tell that I'm struggling?
It might be too late to survive
Cuz how can I live in this season
When you're the warmth that gave me life

Yeah I'm the last roadside flower of them all
And babe you left me alone in the fall
