Brayden, my son

by Reina   Nov 20, 2010

Year eighteen an age so young
Given a surprise to have my son
Since day one my pride and joy
Smiles and tears at knowledge of a boy
For you to be healthy to God I pray
This wish I asked for every day

You were so big but seemed so small
my tummy to surprise a petite little ball
an hour into morning you decided you were ready
six hours of labor it was nice and steady
at just the right time the exact day to be due
the third day of April was a joy to see you
you were everything I pictured but even better
As I watched you sleep I wrote you a letter

Now six months you have quickly grown
The giggles that come when I count each rib bone
The night six months you decided to sleep
All through the night without a peep
You roll all around to get where you’re going
Up on your knees a talent unknowing
As big as you can at me you smile
The happiness it brings makes everything worth while

I hope you grow up to always forgive
But never forget to have fun and live
There are things in life that are really great
But then there will be some that you really just hate
Remember to stay strong and you will survive
No matter what you will make it out alive

Mommy is here for you with arms open wide
Regardless of your past love I will provide
If you ever need help finding a direction
I will tell you to look at your own reflection
It will show you your wish deep down within
To guide your future and yourself in your skin
Listen to common since it is always best
And follow your heart or it will never rest

I will love and protect you each and every day
Just know I do my best for you in every way
Times may get hard but we will always get through
The bond between us is strong and true
I love you more that words can show
You’ll always be mine from head to toe.
Just remember I loved you before your birth
You will always be my baby as long as I’m on earth
