Heaven bound (Cinquain)

by Mr. Darcy   Nov 22, 2010

Their tears
Drenched in sorrow
Fall like rain to the earth
As grief vapours to peaceful thoughts
Doves fly

Cinquain poems came from Adelaide Crapsy in 1911, who developed her own poetic system, which she called cinquain.

These were short unrhymed poems consisting of twenty-two syllables. They were distributed into 2, 4, 6, 8, 2 syllables in five lines.
This type of poetry was related to Japanese literary styles.

Very impressed with this piece. I love the Japanese style; minimal. Cinquain is a new one to me and I will try find a subject to practice it with.

Thank you, very inspired by what I have read so far and judging by other poets comments I will have more enjoyable times ahead when I revisit your page.

    Hope you post more soon.

    Michael!!!!!

    You posted a new poem!!!!

Aw, what a lovely work, so you, so you:)

    Their tears
    Drenched in sorrow

    ^^

Tears drenched in sorrow, yes this is so true,
such a perfect opening, you immeadiately feel what you must have felt when you wrote it, such immense sadness..

Fall like rain to the earth

    ^^
This had a double meaning to me, because it also shows that there is a good side in it, namely: allowing the pain to leave your system

As grief vapours to peaceful thoughts
    Doves fly

    ^^
Yes, when we allow ourselves to grieve, we heal again..such a peaceful images of the doves flying:)

Thanks sweet friend, you made my day with your unique poetry:)

    ((hugs))

Glad you are back and to echo the other commenters, I hope you don't stay away so long again. Nice work with the form and the message you gave to us. Grief and sorrow do eventually turn to peaceful thoughts, we just have to be patient. Well done.
