Welfare

by Michael D Nalley   Jan 3, 2011

For the welfare of all
Or all of those in need
We may stand very tall
Or fall into the pit of greed

People will do what they must
Envying those who are free
Satisfying gluttony and lust
All of the sins in you and me

Pride and anger have a price
There is a war at the border
Very little room for sloth
In a land of law and order

As I bid you fare thee well
Say a prayer for me
That we all may escape the hell
Of fighting to be free

There is a lot of emotion in this piece. So sad that things happen the way they do. Envy, lust, greed and gluttony. All sins. When there are so many more things to be doing. Great message in your poem

As I bid you fare thee well
    Say a prayer for me
That we all may escape the hell
    Of fighting to be free

I really like the ending it wrapped things up nicely.
    Great job!
    Take care Cindy
