Whats left of us

by Chelsey   Jan 13, 2011

Whats left of us is mere confusion
Memories have turned to illusions
My heart broke, call it diffusion
I can't take anymore, my conclusion

What once was us is no longer here
Pictures in boxes hold wet tears
Teddy bears trashed, once held my fears
Blossoming love no longer appears

All thats left is pure regret
Of times I didn't want to leave yet
You never cared if I left upset
Tried changing that, but your ways were set

So many days I've wasted being used
My emotions, you absentmindedly abused
Once filled with love, my heart sorely bruised
Because of times I was falsely accused

I laugh when I hear stories of you
In a drunken stupor with your crew
Unaware of your words or what you do
I won't be dragged down that road too

What once was us is simply gone
No more starlit nights laying in the lawn
Forget about waking up to me at dawn
You're pathetic, annoying, done me wrong

Whats left of us is mere confusion
Memories have turned to illusions
My heart broke, call it diffusion
I can't take anymore, my conclusion

This is absolutely stunning. I like the meaningful rhyme and you caught my eyes from the beginning until the end. I am glad to read and discover your poems. Very well done, kel.

What I liked about this poem was how you kept it real. I am sure this poem is very personal to you but you allowed the reader the chance to relate by being open with your feelings. I am sure many people who have had failed relationships will relate to this piece with ease. You sure pulled me in and this poem pulled at my heart.

Another thing I liked about this poem was how you ended it. It was clever to use the same stanza twice as it reinforced the emotion in the poem and reflected how the writer felt in the now knowing the relationship was over
