Flower Arranging

by Armada the Gestalt   Jan 29, 2011

Red rose romance,
Weddings, wilted.
Yellow eyed daisies flutter,
Plucked away, put aside.
Baby blue forget-me-nots blush,
A name that incites defiance
by association.

Blue is the colour of sadness.
Is sky sad? Sea? Ocean?

Some tulips - generic. Noncommittally pleasant.
Busy lizzies, primroses, all
dowdy and domestic, blustering
cut off in a little pot of water outside which
it knows nothing else.
Roots have no eyes and stems have no consideration.
Petals have an outward projection
and only the blandest of petals may change.

Ink in the water; a sort of science.
Lugubrious lillies lit up with light,
Livid, lilac
Copycat carmine,
Borrowed blue
Stolen sky.
Somnambulant white, pale as an eye
with an iris dot,
telltale, oblivious, reflective splash.

Something tropical, pointlessly foreign
to
stand out
make a shout
sore thumb,
lucky fronds, orange or red or gut colour... plum.

Raucous rose.
Screaming, angry, hungry, bloodshot, selfish, sore, spitting, seething, self-possessed, stealing...

stupid rose.
