Colors have faded

by Matthew Schut   Feb 6, 2011

I walk along a path
As the grass turns brown
The birds fall dead
Insects don't make a sound

Water begins to evaporate
Leaves crinkle into the air
Animals drown themselves
Life just seems so bare

The bright sky turns dark
My face becomes so cold
Thinking back on our relationship
And the sweet things that were told

How can one person
Say we're meant to be
But that same person
Just take the life away from me

Life just isn't the same
The colors have faded away
I'm not myself without you
And I'll never be okay

I love this! The last stanza is just amazing. I know exactly how it feels to have one person bring so much life into you. Truly inspiring work. 5/5

Been there, done that. It sucks. You describe it perfectly though. Excellent poem!

Awww such a sad poem!! I could relate and feel the hurt and pain you're going through :(
I like how you expressed your emotions through nature and the things around you... It makes the hurt deeper and how life really is "bare" without her! Great job :) I hope you are inspired to write more poetry!! :)

A very sad emotional write, Poetry to me is great when it reveals emotions pure and real! You have accomplished that! Well done!
